Dear Parents and Guardians,

Parkallen Social has had a great time hosting Youth Events these past few months. One thing we find beneficial to include in these events is volunteerism. One of the Parkallen Social Committee members, Jeremiah Basuric, works at The Mustard Seed, an organization serving persons experiencing poverty and homelessness in Edmonton. One of his roles includes hosting various volunteer groups of all ages at The Mustard Seed.

The most common task for these volunteer groups is sorting clothing at The Mustard Seed Personal Assistance Centre (10568 - 114 Street NW). Parkallen Social invites youth to come help sort articles of clothing on Friday, March 31st from 7 pm - 9 pm. We hosted the same event last year and participants greatly enjoyed it. The Personal Assistance Centre is located in a safe area of town between Grant MacEwan and Oliver Square. During the time of sorting at the Personal Assistance Centre, only volunteers and youth from our Parkallen program will be present. The building will be closed to the public and Mustard Seed clients during this time.

We ask that parents and guardians bring their youth to the Personal Assistance Centre by car, as bussing is not very accessible in this area; and we encourage families to carpool. Once you arrive, parents and guardians are more than welcome to stay to help. If you decide to leave, we will ask you to sign in the youth you have dropped off, leave your name, contact information, and indicate who will pick them up.

In the spirit of fun, we will also play hide-and-seek in the centre after the youth have sorted clothes. We will also be providing some snacks.

For more information or any questions please contact Parkallen Social or Jeremiah directly at, (780)-919-0414.

Many thanks,

Parkallen Social
